date night

it's my parents' anniversary today and since we've celebrated as a family we are letting them spend it with just each other - so B took me out for dinner at this hidden gem at Kennedy and 14th.  You probably won't have seen it if you've never turned into that wee little driveway leading to Dairy Queen.

 

No I didn't have just the beer for dinner.  I just got to my pizza before my camera did.

Granted the place looks run-down and the sport fans were a little loud, but the food was amazing!  Can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu!

Studying hard at Coffee Culture

Alas the local Starbucks and Second Cup both close early and me being a night person needed to find another late night studying spot... let's see how this new (to me anyway) cafe works out...

raku ramen & izakaya

we wanted to try the new ramen/izakaya at Kennedy and Hwy 7 before it closed down (like so many other restaurant at that same location before this one) so we went there for dinner - the decor and the ambiance was nothing like guu's and the tapas-style dishes quickly added up (i mean, who would have thought the portions would be so little given the high price tag?) 

The only redeeming dish was the ramen, which was just okay - not the best i've had, but didn't fail miserably neither... so all in all, probably won't head back for dinner again - maybe when we crave ramen we could go there for lunch?
