Never guessed gaucamole was so easy to make - just take ripe avocado (that's the hardest part, i guess, since they are usually too raw or too ripe), add chopped cilantro, chopped green onion, minced garlic, diced tomatoes and juice from a lime and viola!

I was at Costco picking up some avocados for my coworker when this tall cute guy came to line up behind me and, as he chivalrously helped me unload my groceries onto the cashier belt, struck up a conversation about my weird mix of food (what dish does one make that calls for pepperettes, anchovies and avocados?) and how the only perk working at Costco is free membership. He then introduced himself as I was just finished paying, and proceeded to ask me for my number.  It totally caught me off guard, and I stammered and even lost track of where I've parked my car while fishing for words to politely turn him down. I guess I should have told him "thanks - I'm extremely flattered - but no thanks" rather than a curt "no" - I just got so flustered in this novel situation that I couldn't think quick enough to react.

Since I'm researching Korean/Asian products to compile a shopping list for Mom who is visiting HK, Thailand & Korea, I figured I'd start noting what had caught my eyes.

Unfortunately the list had grown quite long so I'm hoping to cut it down to 1 - 2 products per category, so here's the face products that  made it to the final rounds:

I remember seeing more but I could not recall what it is that I had forgotten to include... and I haven't even started on the eye and lips and skincare yet!  What are some must-buy cosmetic items from Korea??

raspberry macaron

this gorgeous red was called raspberry macaron - such a decadent name for a hair color :) was a cinch to use - you just squeeze  everything in the pink tube into the clear bottle, replace the cap with the brush applicator and comb through hair.   The yummy scent pretty much masked the chemical smell and the conditioner that came with gave my hair a nice sheen - I had gotten soo many compliments since I colored my hair!

you know how sometimes you roll out of bed and you know that it'll be a bad day?  yea - today's one of those days... my eye still hasn't quite recovered yet - the redness is mostly gone but my vision still a bit blurry; I couldn't find any matching work clothes in the morning and of course today's the day for the meeting where everyone will be there, 2 trucks had tried to push me out of my lanes because they apparently have no need to check blindspots - and now that I'm at work my tolerance for nonsense had been completely worn out.  i mean, come on!! are you seriously going to pounce every chance you get??  If I'm working on A, stop hassling me about when B and C will be done - because the more time I spend peeling you off my back, the less time I have to actually get work done!!

monday blues

Woke up to sad sad news of the passing away of Glee star Cory - Finn was, without a doubt, one of the most charming characters on the show and it's hard to imagine watching the upcoming seasons knowing he won't be there anymore. RIP Cory and hang in there Lea!
 
I wonder if that's the reason why I'm especially short of patience today - it was so vexing to talk to miss bossy who is so hopelessly inept at communicating effectively.  I have no problem being part of the team and have work delegated to me, but at the very least, be clear about what you want done and how you want it done - and be consistent about it!  Don't change your mind every hour and tell me something different... I wish I had a recorder in my cubicle that I can play back all her nonsense.  Or maybe it's just monday blues, after a weekend of food and stress overload, only temporarily relieved by an afternoon nap and a few games of LoL?

Only took 3 hours to drive home last night in the downpour  - it seemed like every route I took there's always a fire truck whizzing by, then halting in front of a pool of water (most of which had piles of cars half submerged) and directing traffic to turn back.  I must have turned back at least 3 times - and it didn't help that I didn't have a GPS  (of course my phone ran out of battery when I needed it)... It was so nerve-wrecking that I was nearly brain-dead when I finally reached home.

It amazes me though to see so many drivers who shouldn't be on the roads - whatever happened to the treat-all-lights-as-stop-signs rule??  Yes, you in that old champagne-colored Camry with dark tinted windows blatantly flying through an intersection where a cop car was parked - and you too Mr. TTC bus driver that did slow approaching the lights but didn't bother to stop.  I'm pretty sure traffic wouldn't be half as bad if people actually obeyed the rules to give right of way.
