Catan night

How does it feel to be dethroned?
That's how I teased the self-proclaimed undefeated champion(-in-Ottawa)of Catan, after B and I raced for the 10th point and he won by this much.

There are already plots to bring down the new champ...

Sally Hansen French Manicure Kit

classic French manicure is the way to go when the weather's changing and you don't know what colors you'll end up wearing the next day.  And this handy little kit makes it so easy that there's no excuse not to do it.

The top and base coats are quick drying and the pen-shaped bottle made it a breeze to paint the tip even without those messy little guide stickers.  Best of all, I got the kit for just 2 bucks - a steal from the last warehouse sale at Lisa's cosmetics that I regretted having only picked up one.

Bye-bye Sandals

With the heels worn out and the elastic gotten loose this pretty pair of peep-toe slingback sandals won't make it to the new cubicle with me when I move in about 2 weeks - and it's a shame that our journey together has come to an end.  They weren't designer shoes or anything expensive (in fact I think I found them at Payless Shoes), but I really liked how the heels are just the right height to be comfy while looking classy, and the little dots along the edges were just so adorable.

Oh well, I guess what they say is true - where would you find room for new shoes if the old ones don't go?

dress shopping blues

It is my honor and pleasure to be a bridesmaid for my best friend, whom I've known for as long as I've been in Canada, and I'm so happy that I get to help her pull together what she's envisioned for her big day.  We've gone shopping for cake and flowers, and I had been there to help her pick her dresses - but now I have a dilemma:  I cannot fit into the bridesmaid dress that she had picked out.

The dress is a gorgeous dark purple one-shoulder fitted mini with ruffles and flowers applique along the left shoulder from Fairweather.  Because the snug fit, I had trouble getting the top part of the zip done in my regular size - but alas, none of the stores in the GTA I had checked had the exact dress in the size I need - and I had been diligently checking every single one I can reasonably get to, which added up to at least 10 stores across the city.  Literally across the city - I had been to stores in Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Toronto and Markham.  Well, some stores on the store listing were not even there to begin with (they didn't bother updating their store information on the website) while others only had the dress in other colors or in the smaller sizes, and some don't even have that style at all.

Failing to find the dress had put me into a really depressive mood - I'm extremely frazzled and about to go crazy - do I still get to be her bridesmaid if I can't find the dress in my size before the day of her wedding in July?
