Bye bye clutch

Writing an eulogy for things headed for the recycling bin/garbage helps me let them go especially when it's something I really really liked... like this lovely wallet/clutch that was a gift from B's mom

- it might have been a tad too girly for my age but I loved the easy to clean surface and the numerous compartments inside and the fact that it came with a removable long chain which converts it into a crossbody purse.

After about a year of use the zipper gave in and I'm forced to part with it... it's gonna be hard for me to find another wallet that it's so cute and versatile!

Bye-bye Sandals

With the heels worn out and the elastic gotten loose this pretty pair of peep-toe slingback sandals won't make it to the new cubicle with me when I move in about 2 weeks - and it's a shame that our journey together has come to an end.  They weren't designer shoes or anything expensive (in fact I think I found them at Payless Shoes), but I really liked how the heels are just the right height to be comfy while looking classy, and the little dots along the edges were just so adorable.

Oh well, I guess what they say is true - where would you find room for new shoes if the old ones don't go?

Snowflake redux

Made another paper snowflake ornament using spring colors and somehow it turned out more like a cross between a star and a flower

great finds at HomeSense and Dollarama

cookies & creme wafer rolls, gorgeously blue-colored marshmallow-flavored sugar, and Pocket Posh Word Power (almost like a dictionary for words that are ridiculously fun to say, like "bugaboo" and "ballyhoo".)

Year of Weddings

As we stepped into 2012, happy news kept on coming and now we have 3 confirmed weddings to look forward to!!  And to prepare for too, even if they are on short notices, because they are the people closest to me and I would give up anything to be there for their big day!

My childhood friend Eva is tying the knot with her SO of 11 years (or more?) in July, then 2 months to the day my brother is gonna be a groom to start his own family!  Last but not least my awesome friend Elle is going to be walking down the aisle in December!!  A summer wedding, an autumn wedding followed by a winter wedding - one in every season!!

When's my turn??!!!

Finally got to see some pictures from B's best friend's wedding back in July of last year, and this is probably the most candid shot of us :)

Shoe Therapy

I was wandering in Marshalls (a Winners-type department store) just killing time before a dinner party and unexpectedly came across these absolutely gorgeous leather pumps with a metal-studded bow - I don't really need another pair of shoes (I should really be looking for replacements for my black winter boots that are falling apart) but I decided that these shoes would be my consolation prize - for seeing others getting what I really really want but never getting it for myself.

blessed

This past week has been filled with so much fun with my dear friends (from school, from work, from random fated meetings through other wonderful friends) that just went to remind me how blessed I am to have so many people who I love and care about (and evidently they feel the same too - otherwise I can't really explain why they'd put up with me for all these times...)

I've got this song stuck in my head and it reminds me of my dear friends every time - especially the part where the singer insists to be there to lift your spirits, just like how my friends always manage to help me re-adjust my thinking so that I can see the silver linings!  So I'd like to dedicate it to you, my dear friends, especially Michelle and Diana :)

My heart's a stereo - it beats for you so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every note, oh-oh~
Make me your radio, turn me up when you feel low
'cause this melody is meant for you - to sing along to my stereo!

Thank you for making my life sweeter too!!

my birthday cupcake from dear Diana didn't survive the ride back home but it tasted like a little piece of heave nonetheless!

Thank you for making my life sweeter too :)

3D snowflake ornament

Our team had always decorated our area for Christmas since we moved into this building, but this year it's made official that the Christmas contest would be one for the most festive cubicle - so people went all out!  One lady turned her cubicle into a gingerbread house complete with candies stuck on the side; another team turned their aisle into Santa's sleigh path with a reindeer in each cubicle (Rudolf got the first!) and Santa himself stuck face-down flat against the wall.  But the effort I found the most amazing was an aisle that was turned into something similar to Disneyland's "It's a Small World Holiday" boat cruise.  Christmas lights were strung along the aisle and between each cubicles there was a banner that says "Merry Christmas" in a different language.  Among these and Christmas wrappers, there were these giant paper ornaments that looked amazing but turned out to be pretty simple to make.  My coworker was kind enough to supply colorful paper and show me how:
