my first BB cream

A few weeks ago I was wandering around a Shoppers Drug Mart when I saw a BB cream from Garnier - for merely 15 bucks!  Now I've heard great things about BB creams from my pal Michelle, with whom I had gone shopping with for the Skin79 BB cream - and from what I remember, they were at least 25 bucks a pop.  So 15 bucks it's a steal - I couldn't pass up on this deal!

There were 2 shades to choose from, and the lady at the cosmetic counter suggested that the light one might turn out too ashy as all BB creams tend to do, so I went with the medium/dark option.

I didn't really know what to expect from a BB cream despite all the hype around it especially in Asia - and reading through the list of ingredients didn't help as I wasn't really sure what to look for.  But I did recognize linalool (which I had confused with lanolin, which is supposed to help soften the skin), and benzyl salicylate, which should help fight breakouts.

On the face, it feels no different from my other tinted moisturizers - except maybe the coverage was more buildable.  Yet once I got under the sun I was told by B that I looked like a pinay, and then I had been mistaken to have gotten a tan from my vacation.

No matter, as I wasn't about to give up - because a week after I bought the first one Michelle and I found the same BB cream at another Shoppers Drug Mart - for 9 bucks!  So of course I had to pick up the other shade, and that one seems to be working out much better.  It is now part of my daily regime and hopefully I will be able to make use of the darker shade once summer rolls around.

back to GINGERBREAD!

After spending half an hour on the phone with Mobilicity and another hour and a half with Samsung - during which I've had my phone restored to factory settings twice - I was finally told that my MMS had stopped working simply because my Nexus S didn't like Ice Cream Sandwich and it's a known bug that Google is supposedly working on resolving.  It sucks because the ICS was an over-the-air update that came from Samsung - they should have tested it to make sure it's compatible before pushing it out.

Meanwhile, my dear friends had somehow all gotten the bug to send me pictures that I keep telling them I can't see rather than through e-mail or whatsapp.  I was almost at my wit's end when B came to the rescue and got Gingerbread back on my phone.  Unfortunately I lost some contacts and apps during the switch because Gingerbread didn't have the data portability functionality, and the stock camera app in Gingerbread is pathetically laughable.  But since I switched back to Gingerbread, my contact list now works with the Facebook app to show the profile picture of that contact rather than having to manually take their pics again.  And MMS now works!  Hooray!

How do you avoid road rage...

...when there are so many people who shouldn't be on the road?

I turn into a different person behind the wheel and most of the time it's because of my pet peeves about:

  • Slowpokes who will not move near or at the speed limit on the passing lane (hello? That's why there are the slow lanes - move aside and let other people pass!)
  • People who deliberately step on the gas once they see you signal for a lane change - worse yet, people who do this when you're already halfway into the new lane - and still honk because you had managed to merge into the huge space between his vehicle and the vehicle that was in front of him.
  • On the other end of the spectrum, people who think they own the road and therefore should get right-of-way regardless of traffic conditions - they squeeze in front even when there's hardly a car's length, then hard-brake because they realize there's really no space to go.
  • Drivers that don't check blind spots - and half the time it's because they are too busy talking on their cellphone!
I swear, one of these days the commute is gonna kill me.

Made another paper snowflake ornament using spring colors and somehow it turned out more like a cross between a star and a flower

Year of Weddings

As we stepped into 2012, happy news kept on coming and now we have 3 confirmed weddings to look forward to!!  And to prepare for too, even if they are on short notices, because they are the people closest to me and I would give up anything to be there for their big day!

My childhood friend Eva is tying the knot with her SO of 11 years (or more?) in July, then 2 months to the day my brother is gonna be a groom to start his own family!  Last but not least my awesome friend Elle is going to be walking down the aisle in December!!  A summer wedding, an autumn wedding followed by a winter wedding - one in every season!!

When's my turn??!!!
