Rexall Pharmaplus is having an awesome buy one get one free deal for Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail polishes - how could I pass up when these vibrant colors I've been lusting for came out under 2 bucks a pop?
I couldn't wait to play with these colors so I decided to paint each of my nails in a different shade just so I can try them all :)
Since these shades were so bright, I thought they'd make great bases for the crackle polishes:
... and it's tough to decide which combination I liked best!
Just for the fun for it, I also tried a rainbow nail:
... although it would probably be more appropriate if it was done for the Pride Parade.

Games night minus games
I really really miss games night when we actually played games...
...rather than having someone tell me it was too late in the evening to start and turn around an hour later to say we could have played...

Happy Anniversary?!!
So today marks the day that I've joined my new company for a year. It's hard to imagine 12 months ago I was still running around, standing on people's back until they signed off my change controls - on paper - and now everything's done over the computer and I have yet to speak with half of the approvers I deal with on a regular basis - let alone meeting them in person. The advance in technology makes for a more sedentary job - most of the day I am holed up in my cubicle and it definitely showed on the bathroom scale.
As if to commemorate my anniversary at my job, I got a speeding ticket on my way to work - something I knew would happen sooner or later now that I'm spending at least triple the time behind the wheels to get to work. It just caught me off-guard because at that moment my mind was so wrapped up in the poor baby squirrel that disappeared under my wheels after it abruptly turned into the direction of my car. I feel more guilty about the roadkill than the ticket but I didn't think that's something appropriate to share with the officer. I don't think I will fight the ticket though - after all, I did go a little faster than the prescribed 40 km/hr.

jfdkl;ajfdklajfdklaf
LoL, one of my favorite ways to let off some steam, has not treated me kindly lately. Well, it's not exactly the game's fault - there was a huge update featuring new interface and graphics along with a bunch of other patches, but somehow after it's updated my computer doesn't seem capable of handling the game anymore - choppy graphics, constant lags, frequent disconnection... you name it.
LoL was the prime suspect that killed the hard drive on B's XPS (and the drive was only a couple of months old!) It got especially frustrating tonight because my first game was ruined by incessant interruptions (phone calls, having to move car) and second by internet connectivity issues due to the lightning storm. Then, after finally getting the time to sit down with B for a game uninterrupted, my computer crashed altogether, seemingly from overheat. Looks like I'm going to need to upgrade my hardware soon.
P.S. in case you're wondering what "jfdkl;ajfdklajfdklaf" is, it's what you'd get when you hit your keyboard in frustration, usually after an untimely lag.

Treetop Trekking
It was so much fun climbing trees, walking on tightropes and zipping from one tree to the next that we're already thinking about going back - and we were lucky to have had conquered 3 obstacle courses before the thunderstorm came too close and the treetop trekking park had to be evacuated. Too bad we didn't get a chance to try the Big Zip nor the Black course, which is supposed to be the most challenging of all.
Only 2-storeys high |
Diana ready on zipline |
It gave a great sense of accomplishment when we reached ground again, looking back at all the obstacles we overcame - not as thrilling as I'd thought (no, I wouldn't consider this an extreme sport) but definitely loads of fun. Plus, it was a whole-body work-out - my arms and legs were sore well into the evening!

Happy Birthday my not-so-baby baby brother!
And of course we celebrated with an abundance of food:
Sushi and sashimi platter from Ichiban Fish House all the way from 16th & Leslie (Thanks B!)

epic game :)
It was a tight race and I ended up losing by a mere 3-point to James - but what's more amazing is that we managed to fill in most nooks and crannies in the map, despite never drawing the piece that we needed when we needed it, especially for Michelle - the piece that she was looking for kept turning up for me and James until almost the very end!
